What is at stake with the political crisis that the UK is currently going through ?

Part 1: The latest disruptions to the British political system, be it political tensions within the parties, various mismanagement of crises, a succession of failed terms of PMs and the passing of the Queen, have challenged the very functioning of British politics, leading to political instability.

Transition 1 to 2: These political doldrums and the ensuing lack of confidence from the population, also provide fertile ground for a social and economic crisis.

Part 2: It is the very fabric of society that is touched, with growing socio-economic challenges that are not new but are heightened by the lack of coherent political answers.

Transition 2 to 3: It is the multiplication of those intertwined political, social and economic crises, added to the pressure of Brexit and outside circumstances like the war in Ukraine, that calls for quick political answers.

Part 3: Both Rishi Sunak and King Charles III now face the challenge of finding quick answers to not only solve the short term consequences of these crises, but to save the future of the Union that now faces a crisis in legitimacy, a Constitutional crisis.
