Other outdated or outrageous state laws in the US:
- Child marriage is still legal with parental consent or in the case of pregnancy in 20 states.
- In Massachusetts, you can’t advertise birth control through the mail
- Women cannot show ‘too much cleavage’ in Cleveland
- In North Carolina, a woman cannot withdraw consent and call subsequent actions rape
- Women cannot wear sleeveless tops or dresses to Congress
- In Carmel, California, a woman must have a permit to wear shoes with heels that are over two inches high and less than one square inch thick
- An unmarried woman in Florida cannot parachute on a Sunday, or else she’ll be fined or arrested
- A man cannot seduce a corrupt, single woman in Michigan.
- Rapists have parental rights in 7 states (Alabama, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, New Mexico, Wyoming)
- In Michigan, a wife must obtain her husband’s permission before she can cut her hair.
- Women can’t wear pants in Tucson, Arizona.
- Unmarried women cannot cohabitate with the opposite sex in Florida, Mississippi and West Virginia.
- Women can be fired for a period leak in Georgia.
- It’s illegal for women to bare their breasts in at least 10 states (ex: Utah, Arizona, Michigan and Georgia)
- Upskirting is still legal in some states.
- Not conscious, not rape. In 2016, an Oklahoma court ruled that it is not a crime to force someone to have oral sex if they are unconscious from drinking.
