Other outdated or outrageous state laws in the US:

 

  • Child marriage is still legal with parental consent or in the case of pregnancy in 20 states.
  • In Massachusetts, you can’t advertise birth control through the mail
  • Women cannot show ‘too much cleavage’ in Cleveland
  • In North Carolina, a woman cannot withdraw consent and call subsequent actions rape
  • Women cannot wear sleeveless tops or dresses to Congress
  • In Carmel, California, a woman must have a permit to wear shoes with heels that are over two inches high and less than one square inch thick
  • An unmarried woman in Florida cannot parachute on a Sunday, or else she’ll be fined or arrested
  • A man cannot seduce a corrupt, single woman in Michigan.
  • Rapists have parental rights in 7 states (Alabama, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Dakota, New Mexico, Wyoming)
  • In Michigan, a wife must obtain her husband’s permission before she can cut her hair.
  • Women can’t wear pants in Tucson, Arizona.
  • Unmarried women cannot cohabitate with the opposite sex in Florida, Mississippi and West Virginia.
  • Women can be fired for a period leak in Georgia.
  • It’s illegal for women to bare their breasts in at least 10 states (ex: Utah, Arizona, Michigan and Georgia)
  • Upskirting is still legal in some states.
  • Not conscious, not rape. In 2016, an Oklahoma court ruled that it is not a crime to force someone to have oral sex if they are unconscious from drinking.
