What to remember from the video comprehension:

More than 500 bills restricting the rights of LGBTQ+ people have been introduced across the country in 2023, 77 of those have been passed, impacting education, healthcare.

Examples:

Tennessee: 5 anti LGBTQ laws passed in 2023, including the first-in-the-nation attempt to ban drag performances in the presence of minors. It has been ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge.

North Dakota: 10 anti LGBTQ laws passed in 2023, one of the highest amounts in the nation. Restrictions have been passed on healthcare and identification, but one aspect that has drawn attention involves public libraries. North Dakota’s legislature has prohibited public libraries from maintaining sexually explicit material. This takes the book-ban initiative targeting queer, racial content and codifies it.

Florida: 4 anti LGBTQ laws passed in 2023 + strong Ron De Santis anti-LGBTQ rhetorics making the headlines. The state passed a law banning gender-affirming care for minors, thus criminalizing it. It discourages acts of social transitioning, like using different pronouns. But it also makes gender-affirming care a condition for child protective services to take a minor away from their parents.

A lot of these laws are facing legal challenges right and are even paused by courts.
